近來花費在交通的時間好多（現在在巴士裏﹐正進入獅隧……）﹐加上系統要大更新﹐所以打算減低出文量﹐維期約莫一至兩個月。

其實有點想過﹐之後會分門別類﹐於數個不同的 blog 出文。

Xanga 那邊﹐由於沒有受系統更新影響﹐估計仍是每周三兩篇的繼續。而日後會花多一點時間寫輸入法方面的東西﹐VoIP 方面﹐也許會全面化為 Mobile Computing 應用和報告。

一多野做﹐不單止台面會亂﹐個腦都會亂七八糟﹐然後就會開始諗唔到野﹐會忘記這忘記那。

現在就算寫低一大堆東西﹐都係好麻煩。要好快 Build up 番一大堆新的 contact list ﹐仲煩。唔理了﹐呢排有排搞了﹐先排好堆 Name card 再算……

今朝看報紙﹐知道皇帝駕崩了。然後﹐又在信件匣中﹐看到最後一回的皇后碼頭論壇的通告。

我可抽不到時間﹐去見証皇朝落日的儀禮﹐那就略略通告大家吧：

很久沒有 post 過新 update, 今日跟進一下先.

首先, 這個月以來, asterisk 和 zaptel 都有幾次版本更新,
似乎仲未 stbable. 前日最新的版本是 1.2.18 / 1.4.8
( zaptel 1.2.19 / 1.4.4 )

近來 asterisk 的 update 主要是針對保安問題, 像這個 1.4.8
, 就修好了 iax2 之上兩個漏洞, skinny 一個漏洞, 最重要的
是 rtp (sip media)上可以被人任意爆 code 的大洞都修好了,
是故, 這是個必須的 update . ( digium 標說是 critical 的! )

zaptel driver 方面, 除了把 install 用的 makefile 做到跟
debian 好用之餘, 還有很多重大改良 (1.4.3 )

* Fix a critical race with zaptel synchronization (r4362)
* Added a /proc/xpp/cmds for statistics about command timing (r4360)
* Fix a digit mapping bug with hardware dtmf detection (r4357)
* In xpp/utils/Makefile add perl syntax checks to our scripts (r4337)
* Better USB data error checking (r4336)
* udev rules (xpp.rules) avoid false calls from wrong nodes (r4331)
* Improve hardware detection and reporting in lszaptel,
zaptel_hardware. zapconf is basically functional.
* Leds are blinked synchronously on all Astribanks now (r4262)
* Fix a BRI bug if OPTIMIZE_CHANMUTE was compiled into zaptel (r4258)
(This feature was not yet accepted into official zaptel)
* Removed compile warning about HZ != 1000 (r4218)
* Firmware updates.
* fpga_load now supports USB pathes without zeros (r4211)
* XPD numbers have changed to ‘‘ (r4196)
* Proper support for ZT_VMWI ioctl, if used in zaptel (r4092)
* Fix FXO power denial detection (r4054)
* FXO could accidentally go off-hook with some compilers (r4048)

剛剛在 bbs chat 板追舊文﹐翻到了 Debian GNU/kFreeBSD 這個怪東西！

當然﹐重點是去看「為甚麼要這樣搞」的一頁﹐略舉其中幾點：

kFreeBSD
- Support for NDIS drivers in the mainline kernel. On Linux, NdisWrapper is unlikely to make it into the mainline kernel.
- Some people say that kFreeBSD has better performance and/or stability (especially in disk/filesystem areas).
- Possible support for ZFS in the mainline kernel. Due to license and patent issues, ZFS is unlikely to appear on Linux.

Debian
- If you don’t have anything against GPL or other copylefted free software licenses, you’ll appreciate that useful kernel modules like ext2fs driver, the upcoming reiserfs and xfs, or the upcoming ethernet driver for Xbox are (or will be) compiled in on the default kernel.
- If you like GNU userland more than BSDish one (again, just a matter of preference).

對我來說 Gnu Userland 意味著大部份本地會碰 運 *nix 的人。BSD style 對於他們來說的確是個門檻。而我更無疑問是個 Hybrid ﹐兩樣一齊用有何不好？

Crazy ideas are non stoppable.

Thanks to Angus of 852signal.com , now there are some blogs talking about our GownFull project.

I have to salute to all friendly peers, at that same time to drive to more advanced stages.

Having traditional IME anywhere is convenient, then how about leaping to a cyber world?

We are not sticking to the keyboard. The development team and people in our google groups are most likely impressed by Taku’s stroke recognition method. We have planned to extend it.

Moreover, I have shown an example of completing phase by Google suggest. That’s not cyber enough. Why are we bond to start input by hand?

To make input as a collaboration, we have to link minds together. Yeah, that’s it, directly accessing people’s mind. Mind scanning cannot be done without super equipment, but we can have some fuzzy logic to mimic people’s mind. With some data input, we can work out an augmented mind processor.

We have many input component in our PC, not all working with your hand. With some crypto tricks, these input can be reform to help the remote side to understand what are there. The remote side computer will do the complicated processing and translation, and finally feed back something, such as a list of guesses. That might be what you really want to input.

I was once planning to make an interpretor for web based video conferencing. But people think that I am just too crazy. Fine, now I can work with simple IME. But the ideas are still sparkling in my mind. There shall be one day all guys giving up traditional input methods. It is because input methods are redundant. You already have all the words in your mind, you already show it off in a dialog. Track back to the ancient times, people don’t even know about writing. Yet they can communicate with each other!

You know it, IME shall evolve !

Oh yes, our GownFull team have started to work on this crazy idea. It works, as you can see in below. But we have to do more fine tuning!
